Four weeks of roadworks on the A17 and A52 are due to start next Friday – but the resurfacing and reconstruction efforts will take place at night and not at weekends in an effort to minimise disruption.

However, Lincolnshire County Council has warned there will be delays despite their best efforts. Works will take place at:

We recognise that these are busy, well used roads, therefore all works will take place overnight between 8pm and 6am to keep disruption and delays to a minimum

A17 Swineshead Bridge: Resurfacing and drainage works will be carried out on Friday, September 18 and Monday, September 21(no working over weekend). To ensure the works can go ahead safely, there will be a road closure on the A17 between A1121 Boardsides and Bicker Bar roundabout between 8pm and 6am.

The overnight road closures will start at 8pm on both days.

A17/A52 Bicker Bar Roundabout: Reconstruction and resurfacing of the carriageway on the A17 and the A52 will be undertaken from Tuesday, September 22 to Tuesday, October 6(no weekend working). There will be a road closure on the A52 between Golden Grove and Fendike Lane between 8pm to 6am.

The A17 will remain open under temporary traffic lights between 8pm and 6am, while the work goes ahead.

A52 Willoughby Hills Boston: Reconstruction and resurfacing of the carriageway on the A52 will take place from Thursday, September 24 to Thursday, October 1 (no weekend working). The A52 will be closed between Johnsons Garden Centre to Wythes Lane between 8pm and 6am. A diversion will be in place via the A52, A16 and A158 and vice versa.

A17/A1101 Long Sutton Roundabout: Reconstruction and resurfacing of the carriageway on the A17 and roundabout will take place from Tuesday, October 6 to Thursday, October 15. Again there will be no weekend working.

To allow the work to go ahead safely there will be a road closure of the B1359 leg between the roundabout and the access road to the service station. Both A17 legs near the roundabout, and the A1101 leg will remain open under temporary traffic lights between 8pm and 6am.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys on the dates affected, particularly if travelling between 8pm and 6am while works are under way.

Andy Wharff, area highways manager, said: “We recognise that these are busy, well used roads, therefore all works will take place overnight between 8pm and 6am to keep disruption and delays to a minimum. Weekend working will also be avoided to ensure residents and other road users are inconvenienced as little as possible.

“This essential maintenance work will ensure the roads will be in good condition for many years to come, avoiding the need to make frequent return visits in future to carry out repairs.”
