AIRFIX modelling brought the whole community together at William Stukeley Primary School at Holbeach.

School governor Ian Braid came up with the idea of a community activity and arranged for a few members of Spalding Modelling Club to go to the school and work with Year 6 children and class teacher Claire Underwood throughout an afternoon. Under the guidance of the modellers, each child produced and painted a Spitfire.

After school, lots of parents joined in, as well as teachers and governors, and teaching assistant Helen Rowley said: “It was really so lovely. They all got to make their own Spitfire too. We wanted to keep them on display but they all wanted to them them home.”
