Around 3,500 people attended Spalding Model Railway Club’s weekend show at Springfields Events Centre – a leap of 150 on last year.

Visitors saw 37 magnificent layouts inside and live steam outside thanks to Tim and Dave Webster, of Bicker and Donington Light Railway, who brought their miniature train to the show.

Exhibition manager Edward Dickerson said it was his club’s 26th show at Springfields.

Over the course of a year, Spalding Model Railway Club raises funds for three good causes – the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, the children’s ward at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, and Pinchbeck East Primary School – and money raised at the weekend will go to those causes.

Mr Dickerson said: “It’s not all about ‘grab’, it’s about giving something back and that’s why we do what we do.”
