Memories of duck punts used on the Wash

Keith Seaton, who submitted these images of The Wash at Cowbit, says it flooded most years until the Coronation Channel was opened in 1953.

He says the boats are duck punts or shouts that were used by wildfowlers to go out to shoot ducks on the Wash. The picture above looks as though it was being used for other purposes though – the man possibly showing off his paddling skills to his companion.
