A runner from Deeping St Nicholas is hoping to raise £2,000 for a children’s charity.

Chris Shingles (29, pictured), of Farmhouse Drive, is running the Virgin London Marathon on April 17 in aid of Get Kids Going, a charity which helps fund wheelchairs for disabled children.

He said: “This is the first time I have done the London Marathon.

“This time last year I was really unfit and thought it was time to do something about it.

“I’ve been training hard and am hoping to complete the 26 miles in about four and a half hours.”

So far Chris, who works at Linford’s fish and chip shop in Market Deeping, has raised £1,500.
