POLICE spent almost five hours negotiating with a man who barricaded himself into a property in Billingborough and threatened to harm himself yesterday.
Officers cordoned off High Street just after midday, after a concerned member of the public called for help.
About 12 police officers, who were assisted by paramedics and firefighters, were on the scene until about 4.30pm.
A police spokesman said: “The man came out of the property and was detained peacefully. The incident was resolved with no harm to the public.”
The 55-year-old man was arrested under the Mental Health Act and later arrested on suspicion of burglary.
He was not injured during the incident.
He has now been bailed to appear at Grantham Police Station at a later date.
