SUMMER returned to Spalding this week bringing sunshine after the storms and a welcome relief for parents trying to entertain their children during the holidays.
Families headed to the historic Ayscoughfee Hall gardens in Church Street yesterday, where they were enjoying a spot of sunbathing and picnics on the lawn.
Two friends having a catch-up while their children played were Jo Elsden and Liz Edwards, who work at St Paul’s County Primary School.
They set up a picnic on a union flag rug to show their support for Team GB. Liz said: “We’ve been following the Olympics, but we had to make the most of the sun.
“We are lucky our children enjoy simple things like a picnic because it gets expensive entertaining them when it rains.”
