MAGGIE Ward sets off for the London Olympics on Sunday – to take up her role as Games Maker.

Maggie, better known as deputy vice-principal at the University Academy Holbeach, is part of the Event Services team and will be on duty throughout the entire hockey tournament.

Maggie said: “It’s ever so exciting. I am part of the team interacting with the public and I am part of the mobility team, so I’ll be helping any visitors to the games with mobility problems, which I have had my training for so I know what to do.

“I am really pleased to be in the hockey stadium because I was a hockey pro. I used to be captain of Long Sutton for many years in the 1970s and 1980s.”

Maggie, who has been given a special London 2012 tracksuit and bag containing a notebook, brolly and water bottle to assist in her role, finishes her stint on the final day, August 11 or 12.
