Robbers armed with a machete and knives targeted a village shop in Cowbit last night (Wednesday).

Police have launched an urgent investigation after the robbery at Cowbit Village Stores in Barrier Bank around 7.15pm yesterday.

Three men entered the store and threatened shopkeeper Colin Foxwell, before stealing cash, alcohol and cigarettes. They left the scene in a blue 4x4 with silver skirting.

Mr Foxwell was shocked but unhurt.

Villagers have raised £3,000 for security shutters for the store after it was broken into on February 20 and cigarettes and alcohol worth around £1,000 stolen. Days later a window was smashed in an attempted burglary.

Anyone with information about the latest incident is asked to contact Spalding CID on 101, quoting incident number 404 of March 15.
