Holbeach and the Suttons have not only provided homes for two families but bases from which to run successful businesses.
Hallgate Timber Ltd has been in Long Sutton for 25 years since Eddie and Christine Harris left Essex for this area, attracted by cheaper housing.
Eddie was an electrician, but happily gave that up when the opportunity arose to buy an existing timber yard business.
Eddie and Christine are still involved in the business as directors, but since then their son Mark has joined them in addition to Mark’s brother-in-law Paul Carnell, who is married to Melanie.
Mark said: “I joined the business about 17 years ago. It’s a good trade to be in.
“We source wood from all over Europe and further afield sometimes and our main thing is timber buildings, log cabins, summer houses and lodges.”
Unlike Eddie and Christine, Colin Nebe, of Colin and John Kitchens of Holbeach, grew up in this area.
The business has been in Holbeach for between eight and ten years, frequently creating kitchens for people who have moved to the town from the south.
Colin said: “I was born here and continue to work here and my customers are here. We have a good reputation.”
