Spalding Lions marked another year of community service with members and guests at the club’s 42nd annual charter night at South Holland Centre.

A three-course meal and live music from duo Just the Two of Us were the highlights at an event attended by guests from Spalding and South Holland Rotary Clubs and Spalding Round Table.

Lions President Eileen Robson said: “It was our annual birthday party where people had a lot of fun and it was a brilliant night.

“We had our meal, then there were a few speeches and after that, people were dancing to music from Just the Two of Us.

“It was really good to have guests from the Round Table and the two Rotary Clubs, but we also had the president of Spalding and East Elloe Butchers’ Association, Terry Wells, and other friends from the community.

“These included the president and chairman of Spalding Amateur Swimming Club whose members Spalding Lions has helped over the years.”

The charter night was one of the last events for Eileen as president before handing over to current vice president Elaine Mothers next year.

“We’ve supported local, national and international causes during my year as president, but we do try and help local groups in particular, like the Guides and Scouts.”
