WOODLAND: I urge people to stand up to these despots

I agree wholeheartedly with last week’s letter about the Government’s derisory contribution to woodland planting in this area.

Just 1.8 hectares of new woodland has been allocated this year for the whole of South Holland.

This is about the size of 2.5 football pitches.

At the same time the Government proposes to concrete over 1,500 square miles nationwide – an area larger than Cornwall.

I think this shows not only the contempt the Government has for the countryside and its people but also for the world’s environment as a whole.

I urge readers to Google organisations like the Woodland Trust and the Campaign to Protect Rural England or to read the “The Last Child in the Woods” by Richard Louv and stand up to these despots.
