Why no action at caravan site?

I read in the paper last week that South Holland District Council is pursuing a man in Donington regarding an illegal caravan on his land – what an absolute farce and disgrace.

I wrote to the council planning officers on May 11, 2009, asking them what they intend to do about the illegal caravan site that has been set up in Deeping St Nicholas at the site of Spalding Pallets.

The site has more than a dozen mobile homes housing migrant workers.

The site has no planning permission, by the council's own admission.

The access to the site is a danger and there are more problems with this site.

The council did not even have the good manners to reply to my letter and it appears that no action is being taken at all.

One has to ask why?
