Town has been taken over in the 14 years I’ve lived here

well done Malcom Manning (Guardian letters, January 26) – like you I am in disgust at going into Spalding.

Like you say, the eastern Europeans are opening way too many shops, encouraging late night drinking and lots of trouble.

But my main worry is that they say they are leaving their countries because they are scared etcetera, but yet they get help to open shops that encourage more trouble.

Then the money they make gets sent back to their countries, not back into our communities.

Whilst on the point I think it is sad when there are youngsters just starting to talk and all they are picking up is the foreign languages.

This is bad as we are in England, we want our children to talk English. I have lived in Spalding for 14 years now and it has drastically been taken over.

Please Spalding English people, speak up. Let’s get our views forward, we need our town and country back.

England is not England any more. Why should we have to live with our lives being ruined?

You have very valid points but i must say as a born and bred Spaldonian its isnt the fault of the people but our very own Government and its incompetent and absolute disregard for the people that have put them in office .. these so called Politicians have been given our trust to serve us and the Nation, they have been entrusted with the well being of the country, its security and that of us its citizens. Remeber also that we have to be mindful of the legislation relating to racism etc and although i must admit i agree with that legislation i am at a complete loss why there isnt a similar law protecting the British citizen from similar discrimination. Cultures and Laws differ from country to country and when travellin abroad im always mindful and respectful of this, its a pity that the same curtiousy cannot be shown by folks from other countries that come here.

I agree with everything you are saying. As someone who as lived in Spalding all my life ,i no longer like to live here .As i have no choice but to stay here .I have had Eastern Europeans living next door to me for 4+ years and have a been subject to anti social behavour from them . I have help from council anti behavour team and police but not untill i contacted John Hayes. The landlord does not want to know.So who can we get any help from? I am speaking up and would like others to please!!! I am a 67 year young lady,

In ten years time the English will be an ethnic minority in Spalding and Boston, If we havn't been driven out altogether. Personally I havnt been to either town for months and have no intention of doing so.
