Too easy to pass blame
Our Member of Parliament wonders in his comment column (April 23) in effect whether street drinking and street-fouling are somehow obligatory behaviour in Poland, Estonia or Lithuania – a strange notion - but goes on to state that they are not acceptable in Britain.
The letter alongside from Spalding's Sector Inspector of Police should give him clarity: even though most young foreign nationals in our midst are here without any parental or other cultural influences restraining them they constitute only a sixth of those alleged to have committed assault or public disorder.
So of those who are offending without doubt the vast majority have to be British, our own youngsters, and I suggest that it is probably their behaviour as a majority which is infecting the foreign national minorities, rather than the other way round.
Of course, solving these problems will involve a long and challenging journey for us all, but we should start by looking in the right direction. It is all too easy to blame outsiders.
