Sadly, extremes are clear to see
TWO articles caught my attention in the Lincolnshire Free Press of June 9. A very good example of controversial contrast within the local environment.
The first article was with regard to a planning application at the Silverwood Garden Centre, for which planning officers have recommended refusal, and the second article, complete with photograph once again published, giving free advertising to a motor trader running a scrap car and van service who has no regard for the local environmental impact near Cowpers Gate.
Within a short walking distance in the same area we have, on the one hand, Silverwood Garden Centre which has become a local popular attraction, giving employment to several people, and a car dealer who has denigrated an area which is to be seen by passing tourists travelling along the A17. The fine meted out to the scrap dealer of 10 per week, even if forever, will not be a deterrent as the eyesore has been allowed to remain for so long.
I wish the garden centre the best of luck in its efforts to put something of value into the community.
