POPPY APPEAL: Community did us proud once again
As Poppy Appeal organiser for Long Sutton, I would like to thank everyone for the wonderful support shown again this Remembrance tide.
The shops and traders raised £1,882.25; the Co-op and other manned static points £2,198.37; house to house collections £1,087.87 and church and wreaths £360. The jubilee ball raised £708.
We still have more money to collect at a presentation evening which will bring our total in excess of £6,500. This year, with the population of Long Sutton just over 6,000 this is some achievement.
Thanks to the Peele Community College, Army Cadet Force, Long Sutton and Lutton primary schools and youth groups for their support in teaching the young to understand conflicts past and in the world today.
Plus for their splendid turnout for Remembrance Day on November 11. The whole community of Long Sutton did us very proud once again.
