Mobile gym is moving to where it is needed
IN response Bob Hughes' letter (Lincolnshire Free Press, June 30) "It is not good to travel to St Marks".
The fitness class is not moving to Holbeach St Marks, it is moving to Holbeach Hurn.
These keep fit lessons are based around a mobile gym – note the word “mobile”.
South Holland District Council and the NHS have worked in partnership to provide these gyms aimed at tackling known health issues.
The Hurn ward has been highlighted as having health issues, particularly heart disease, obesity and diabetes, which is one of the reasons that this mobile gym is being directed at Holbeach Hurn.
Holbeach Hurn has no facilities in its tiny village other than an excellent pub and the newly-refurbished village hall where the gym is to be based.
Holbeach now has a new gym in Back Street as well as the long established weight training club off Alison Avenue, which has excellent gym facilities.
This is the second time the gym has been to Holbeach whereas many other areas have still yet to see it.
I am pleased it has been of benefit to Mr Hughes and around eight others, but it was never meant to be permanently based there, being a mobile gym.
If he wishes to travel to Holbeach Hurn, and let us not forget there were some who had to travel from Holbeach Hurn to Holbeach when it was based there, he can get the Call Connect bus to deliver him to the door.
Details of the new classes will be published in the press shortly.
