IMMIGRATION: Get rid of the bad apples

Yet again we read about several Eastern Europeans being convicted – this time of lead theft (Free Press, December 18) and being sentenced to a total of almost 22 years between them.

This means that the British Taxpayer will be funding their stay in prison. Why can they not be deported so that we taxpayers do not have to continually have to “shell-out” to keep them in a state of comparative luxury which they will enjoy in our prisons.

Many Eastern Europeans really do enhance our community – but surely it would be good for our society to get rid of the “bad apples” back to their own countries.
