Fantastic opportunity for Spalding people
I am writing in support of the proposed movement of The Sir Halley Stewart field. The move brings a number of benefits to Spalding including jobs and the redevelopment of a part of the town that is grossly under-utilised – but the key benefit I see is the opportunity to develop a facility for the children.
The proposed movement of the field will give our children the opportunity to have a facility that is safe, available to all and open all year round. The facility will have two full-size football pitches, four junior pitches and a full size all-weather pitch as well as indoor recreational facilities – something that will benefit thousands of people over the coming years.
Spalding has the opportunity of creating a sporting facility that we could be proud of and would be used by the masses rather than the few as it currently is.
The Sir Halley Stewart Field is being relocated and brilliantly enhanced and gives us all fantastic opportunity for the town and the children of Spalding.

Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 01:59 PMAndy - You are so right, think of the children that will benefit from this. Think of what it will leave for youre children and grand children. A facility that could be used by all rather than a field opened up every saturday for 90 mins. More jobs for people, more revenue into town. The green space is being removed just being relocated.

Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 02:58 PMThe 'proposed' new sports facility should be to available to as wide a range of sports as possible. The whole problem with the Halley Stewart is that is under-used. Can't really understand all the opposition this is getting. As for your comments marshy, would you rather this was out in the sticks where only a few people would be able to access it without a long drive in their own cars? At least Spalding has transport infastructure of sorts. It's presumably your choice to live where you do. If you want facilities on your doorstep move into town.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 05:03 PMWhat is amazing is the way this is written as it seems the deal HAS been done as (quote) " the field IS being relocated" as opposed to the various sides voicing their opinions at this stage - how odd or then again, its to be expected as usual as Joe Public who has to put up with the outcome but its a bit unnerving to think this is supposed to be in the 'disccussion stage' unless I am missing the plot.. Bearing in mind we are all living under the costly Red Lion fiasco, perhaps a bit of real thought would not go amiss as opposed to the usual 'Empire Builders' we have to contend with.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 09:29 AMIt goes without saying anything to the advantage of South Holland residents should be in Spalding and the rest of the district should fund it?
