Disgusted with Readers’ Picture
HOW disgusted I was by the picture you printed in the Lincolnshire Free Press of January 17, submitted by Valerie Masters of Tydd St Mary.
What is someone doing with a bird box in her garden when she has a cat?
And I don’t want to be told it is nature, because the cat would not eat the little bird – just play with it until it died of fright. Buy food for your cat, not hope it can catch its own.

Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 12:27 PMI am the owner of three cats whom I love dearly. I also love to see birds in the garden but I don't encourage them by putting out food for them. They still come anyway. It is natural for a cat to try to catch a bird even when it is fed by it's owner. I don't believe domestic cats are responsible for the disappearance of birds from our gardens as if my three are anything to go by the bird gets away 99.9 times out of 100. We had a nest of blackbirds in a tree last summer and all four eggs hatched and the young flew away without any problems from the cats.

Monday, February 20, 2012 at 09:19 AMBirds would come to the garden whether she had a bird box or not as would other peoples cats. If you want to blame someone for the demise of wild birds try pointing the finger at farmers......

Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 08:24 AMIsnt that what cats have been doing for thousands of years? It is instinct, for cats to hunt. Sounds like you want the animal killed and put in a nice tin for the cat so that you dont have to see it killed! Cats and dogs are naturally carnivors, its not their fault humans keep them as pets,
