HIGHWAYS bosses have thanked residents and business owners for their patience over the ongoing closure of Fleet Street in Holbeach.
The road has been closed for more than two weeks amid fears it could collapse after a trench fell on a workman.
Lincolnshire County Council said it was expecting permission to be granted to allow workers back on site from the Health and Safety Executive yesterday.
Steve Willis, head of Highways, said: “We would like to thank everyone for bearing with us.
“This has taken longer than expected but we hope the road can be opened again to traffic by the middle of the week.
“We remain in regular contact with local businesses and have got signs in place to inform shoppers that businesses are open as usual.”
