A Spalding shop is encouraging the current trend for recycling and re-using.
Flowers N’ Things, in Red Lion Street, has launched a series of day courses to help people interested in upcycling furniture.
Anna Avery, a partner in the business, said: “We have been painting furniture in here for a long time, but we have now bought into a brand of vintage paint we are using and selling and we are teaching people to use.
“We are running courses so people can come and spend a day and learn how to use the paints.”
The plan is that people will spend a day in the coffee shop courtyard during which they will learn lots of different techniques, such as one colour ageing, two colour ageing, staining and finishing, under the direction of Val Sandall.
Anna said: “They will sample all these techniques and do a small project to take away which we supply.”
The new courses are so popular that the first dates released are already booked up, but Anna says they will be releasing some new dates in the next day or so.
She said: “We have always loved giving new life to things. We hate throwing things away really.”
The courses (10am to 3pm) cost £60, including refreshments, lunch and the project.
