For people of all ages who have never had the chance to try to play a brass instrument – or who wanted to brush up on old skills – they had the chance at a ‘learn to play’ week.

Sadly, this year’s successful free event, which has run for the last 14 years, may be the last for the Holbeach Town Band.

The band has been asked by Holbeach Parish Council to move from their current rehearsal room in Back Lane and fear they will be homeless by the spring.

They have been desperately working to find an alternative place to practice but as a non-profit making group they do not have the funds to pay for a lease.

Chairman Yvonne Butter said: “We have sent out letters and tried to look for funding but we need somewhere exclusive to practice in and cannot afford a commercial rent.

“We need about £100,000 for a new building but have raised just £10,000 so far.”
