Woman recovering after A16 Algarkirk crash

UPDATE THURSDAY 11AM: A woman is still recovering in hospital after being badly injured in a crash on the A16 near Algarkirk last week.

The 53-year-old woman from Gedney suffered ankle, collar bone, knee cap and rib fractures after her Peugeot 206 car crashed into a Vauxhall Corsa at about 5pm last Thursday.

She was taken to Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, after being given first aid by fire crews who cut her free from the wreckage of her car and a Lincolnshire Police spokesman said the woman is expected to make a full recovery.

FRIDAY DECEMBER 21ST 12 NOON: Two women, including one from Gedney, were injured after a two-vehicle crash on the A16 near Algarkirk.

A black Vauxhall Corsa collided with a silver Peugeot 206 at about 5pm yesterday and police had to close the road for about three and a half hours.

Fire crews from Donington and Boston used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the Peugeot drive, a 53-year-old woman from Gedney, who was then given first aid.

She suffered fractures to her leg and shoulder while the driver of the Corsa, a 23-year-old Boston woman, was treated for chest injuries.
