Whaplode maize maze is a big hit for bank holiday
Visitors flocked to the Maze in Maize at Whaplode over the Bank Holiday weekend and helped to raise money for charity.
More than 500 people went along to the maze in Eastgate and as well as exploring the 12 and a half acres of the outer space-themed maze they were able to enjoy a barbecue, face painting and live music.
People were also able to bid for a number of unusual wooden sculptures that were carved with chainsaws on the site and just over 890 was raised for the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society (SANDS).
Maze owner Lance Whittington said: "It's a cause that is close to my heart because I lost a child myself a few years ago.
"All of the money raised stays locally because it goes to the SANDS branch which covers this area.
"It was a very good weekend. It hasn't been the best of seasons because of the weather so it was nice to see so many people come out and it was beautiful for both days which makes a nice change.
"It's been a lot of hard work and I feel like a zombie after all the late nights I have had but when I see smiles on people's faces at the end of the day I know all the work has been worthwhile."
The maze continues to open on a daily basis until the end of the school summer holidays and after that will be open at weekends and for two special night events on September 29 and October 5.
Mr Whittington wants to continue to improve the facilities he has on offer at the site and has recently received permission to build Simply Potty, a ceramic pottery painting studio that he hopes to have in place in time for next year's maze.
