Police are appealing for witnesses after a group of youths were spotted causing damage to a bench at Ayscoughfee Gardens in Spalding
A witness spotted the vandals pulling the bench apart on Tuesday, but when the youths realised they had been seen, they ran off in different directions.
The only descriptions the police have of the youths, all male, is that they wore jackets with hoods, one of which was blue.
Over the past few weeks, there have been several incidents where damage has been caused to the gardens and to the building – a Grade I listed, 15th century visitor attraction.
In February, there was a plea for witnesses after a side window of the historic hall was smashed. At the time it was suspected a stone had been thrown. PCSO Kimberly Marlow said: “I am urging anybody that sees anything happening within the grounds to report it to a member of staff or to the police.”
Anyone with information regarding the damaged bench is asked to call Lincolnshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 425 of 13/05/2014.
