UPDATE: Bourne worker stabbed to death in his own home

A BOURNE worker was stabbed to death at his home, a post mortem examination has revealed.

Alan Wood (50), who worked at Sainsbury's, in Bourne, was found dead at his home in Lound at around 1pm on Saturday.

Lincolnshire Police have launched a murder inquiry but officers say they have not yet uncovered a motive for the crime.

Today a team of detectives and support staff has been assembled to conduct further house to house inquiries and extensive search of the wider area around the crime scene.

Forensic and technical inquiries are also under way and officers are working closely with Mr Wood's family to update them on the progress of the investigation and offer them support.

Det Supt Stuart Morrison, of Lincolnshire Police, said: "Police were called to an address in Lound, near, Bourne, just before 1pm on Saturday. When they arrived they found the body of 50-year-old Alan Wood inside.

"A post mortem investigation has shown Mr Wood died from knife injuries following a sustained attack. A murder investigation has been launched.

"The motive for the murder is not yet known.

"We need to speak to anyone who knew Mr Wood. In particular anyone who knows what he was doing between teatime on Wednesday, October 21 and Saturday lunchtime.

"We also need to hear from anyone who has noticed any suspicious activity in Lound or the surrounding areas. This could include vehicles, callers, or anything else they thought unusual."
