Specialist officers were called to a house in Withington Street during the early hours of yesterday morning after reports that threats of serious violence had allegedly been made against people living in the house.

A man from the Sutton Bridge area was interviewed but a Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “We have concluded the investigation and no further action is being taken.

“Officers would like to thank the local community for their co-operation during the incident.”

No one was injured during the incident.

WEDNESDAY 2PM: police were called to a domestic incident at 3am where threats of serious violence had allegedly been made against people who had earlier been in a house on the street.

A spokesman said: “Our enquires so far have established that the situation was not as first reported and this has resulted in the downgrading of our resources in the area. Further enquiries into all the circumstances will continue.

“We can confirm that no-one has been injured and no-one has been arrested.

“We would like to thank the residents of Sutton Bridge for their patience during the course of the incident. “From the information we received in the first instance it was appropriate that we treated the incident very seriously.

“Our main aim throughout was to ensure the safety and wellbeing of those involved and that of the wider public.”

WEDNESDAY 10.40AM: Police have now cordoned off an area at the junction of Withington Street and Bridge Road and are diverting traffic along Falklands Road.

Our reporter at the scene says in the past few minutes a group of people gathered by the edge of a field nearby, waving a bed sheet calling for the police to ‘Free Mr Sainty’. Residents have been told they are free to come and go.
