UPDATE: Airlifted A17 crash driver is from Sutton St James

A 69-year-old man from Sutton St James was airlifted to hospital after a road collision on the A17 at Long Sutton.

Emergency services attended the scene at 1.40am yesterday (Monday).

The collision involved a grey Nissan Qashquai and a blue Vauxhall Zafira.

The man airlifted to Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham was the driver of the Nissan, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The driver of the Zafira is from Essex and was treated at Boston Pilgrim Hospital for minor injuries.

Clearance of the vehicles caused traffic delays well into the teatime rush hour.
