United Lincolnshire Health Trust, which runs Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital, has won £28,000 of regional cash to plough into a new dementia care project.

“All About Me” is a document with key details about a patient’s routine, interests and preferences, so health and social care staff can offer targeted support.

The document notes details on medication the person is taking or is allergic to, help they may need with eating and drinking, their normal sleeping routine and anything that might make them nervous, angry or sad as well as what helps them calm down.

Trust deputy chief nurse Jennie Negus said: “We know that hospitals can be particularly distressing for people with dementia and they often need extra care and support.”
