Tributes paid to fundraiser Sheila (57)

Tributes have been paid to a Holbeach fundraiser who has died from breast cancer.

Sheila Young (57) died at her Hunters Close home on June 2, leaving husband Steve and children Ruth (32), Eleanor (32), John (28) and James (19).

Sheila had worked as an administrator for Patchett Lodge Care Home in Holbeach for 11 years and was part of a committee raising funds for the residents' comfort fund through coffee mornings, raffles and the home's annual gala.

Patchett Lodge manager Sue Gardner said: "Sheila did a lot to help the residents.

"She was an outgoing person who will be missed by all the staff and residents. She loved to play bingo and enjoyed spending time in Spain where her sister lives."

Sheila was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2004 and after radiotherapy and chemotherapy returned to work.

In January this year tests revealed the cancer had returned.
