They sound like a team that should be playing in the World Cup, but when Spalding retailers united they shared just as much passion to make our town great.
National and local independent retailers and market traders are joining forces to discuss how they can improve the shopping experience for customers in the town centre.
Called the Spalding Town Retailers’ Association, the first meeting took place last week.
Chairman Gavin Allmand, director of Hills Department Store, said: “The aim of the group is to make Spalding a great place for our customers to shop in.
“The retailers have already been invited to be part of the management group for the soon to be appointed town centre manager and has the full support of the Spalding Chamber of Commerce, of which some of the retailers are members.
“Whilst the town centre manager will ultimately will be the focal point for the retailers, the group has been formed now to participate in the recruitment process and be involved in the establishment of a plan of action.
“Members of the Crescent Traders are fully involved in this group, as it is hoped it will be the voice representing the all retailers of Spalding, with both local independents and national retailers already signed up.”
The group would like more members. It will next meet at 5.45pm on Wednesday, July 9, at Sainsbury’s in Spalding. How to promote town centre events, such as the BBC’s Children in Need, will be on the agenda. Retailers wishing to join the group should email firstname.lastname@example.org There is no fee to join.
