A teenage air cadet has been recognised by a first aid charity for trying to save a life in Spalding.

Cdt Cpl David Wait (17), of 1406 Sqn Spalding Air Cadets, has been presented with the St John Ambulance Young First Aider of the Year Award after leaping to action when he came across a man suffering a heart attack in June last year.

Having done first aid training at air cadets, David worked alongside an East Midlands Ambulance Service Emergency Care Practitioner and a LIVES (Lincolnshire Integrated Voluntary Emergency Service) Responder, who had also stopped to help, performing CPR and basic life support to the patient.
