Sylvia's painting under hammer for day hospice

A picture of the Namibian desert painted by terminal cancer patient Sylvia Baldwin from Spalding is being auctioned to the highest bidder in aid of Jenny Freeman Lodge day hospice.

The original oil painting went on show at the weekend at The Edge Gallery in Station Street, Spalding, where bids of more than 70 are being taken.

Gallery owner Phil Scarlett is also selling a high quality print of the painting for offers of more than 40 for the same cause.

Sylvia (62) painted the picture from memory of one of her favourite holiday destinations after intensive chemotherapy treatment for ovarian cancer.

She is now in remission and determined to live life to the full while she can.
