Staff support forces

STAFF at South Holland District Council showed their support for Armed Services Day by wearing their uniform to work.

Council officers also took in memorobilia from their military service to mark the occasion.

Jon Hilton, a former member of the RAF Police, wore his veterans badge, Jeff Goodley, a Flight Lieutenant in the RAF Volunteer Reserve and Steve Thorn, who served as a Sergeant in the Royal Engineers, retiring after 22 years service in 1988 also wore their uniform.

Jeff, who now runs an air cadet unit in Wisbech, said: “This is just a small way of showing the support of the community for the men and women who serve this country in uniform.

“I have a son currently serving with the Royal Navy in the Gulf and I am proud to wear my uniform to show support of him and everyone else currently serving.”
