A Spalding author has been blown away by the success of her book, which has become one of the town’s best sellers.

Gemma King released Haunted Spalding in August and since then it has sold 900
copies, putting it firmly at the top of the best-seller’s list for the town’s WH Smith’s branch.

Gemma planned to hold a book signing event at the store on March 9 but this has had to be postponed until Saturday, March 30 as WH Smith has almost run out of books.

Gemma said: “The book has been phenomenally
successful in many book clubs in Spalding and further afield and I am elated, not just because I did not know what to expect when releasing the book – the sales and level of interest in it has by far exceeded anything I expected –but also because the royalties are supporting Collyhurst Crisis House in Winsover Road, part of national mental health charity Making Space.”

The event in Spalding will give people a chance to buy the book or get their copy signed and Gemma is encouraging people to go along and chat about their own spooky tales and ghostly experiences.

Gemma added: “People who come along on that day can also find out what’s going to be in my new book – Haunted Boston.

“I don’t have an actual copy yet because it is still in production but the publisher has brought forward the release date from June to May.

“The History Press has invited me to work on new projects following the release of Haunted Boston – and Haunted Stamford is most likely to be the next one.”
