Spalding coach carrying rail delay passengers crashes

A coach run by a Spalding travel company carrying passengers delayed by rail problems crashed on the A1 at Little Paxton yesterday.

Travellers between Peterborough and London were facing chaos with the rail service paralysed due to a kilometre of power cables coming down between St Neots and Sandy.

The coach, run by Fowler’sTravel, was carrying train passengers from London King’s Cross and is understood to have smashed into the central reservation on the Great North Road.

It is believed around 50 passengers were on board.

A spokeswoman for Network Rail said the bus had left London at 3.40 am and collided with the central reservation. The driver had suffered an injury to his finger trying to open the emrgency doors.

As investigations are ongoing, a spokesman for Fowler’s Travel said they were unable to comment at this time.

Today, services have been running as normal from 6am but engineers will return to finish repairs at 10pm tonight.
