A Spalding woman is warning shoppers to check their bank accounts after she was charged twice for her weekly shop at Aldi.
The shopper said she spent £60 using her bank card at the store on Saturday, March 22 – and was charged again the following Tuesday.
She said: “I wouldn’t have known if I hadn’t checked my bank account and got straight round to Barclays who reimbursed me immediately. But I was not happy with Aldi, as I was told it could take 15 days for the money to be returned.”
An Aldi spokesperson said: “Unfortunately we experienced technical difficulties at some of our stores between March 18 and 24, and some customers using debit cards have been charged twice. We were notified of the matter on March 26 and all affected transactions were identified and refunded on the same day.”
A Barclays spokesman said: “This matter is receiving our urgent attention to ensure our customers are repaid the amounts they are due as quickly as possible.”
