Rumble strips nuisance

Traffic is detouring through village roads rather than using the A17 at Sutton Bridge where temporary repairs are acting like “rumble strips.”

Coun Simon Booth complained about the issue at last month’s parish council meeting.

On Tuesday, the parish council heard from highways officer Sue Cooper that the rumble strip effect is from temporary repairs but it will be cured in time as the raised areas “wear down” to the level of the road surface.

She said that stretch of the A17 is scheduled to be resurfaced at some time during the next two financial years.

• Sutton Bridge residents may soon escape wet feet when they use the pedestrian crossings on Bridge Road.

Lincolnshire County Council will carry out repairs to put an end to the problem of standing water.
