Mum and baby crash rescue, Quadring Becki, Imogen Thompson and Alexis Thompson-Marriott

Young mum Beckie Thompson, from Quadring, and her four-month-old baby had a lucky escape after their car landed upside down in a water-filled ditch.

Baby Imogen was trapped under water for four-and-a-half minutes as Beckie struggled to free her from her car seat. She had stopped breathing by the time she was released, but was saved after a heroic passer-by gave her CPR. Residents in Crowland were let in shock after an armed robbery at the George and Angel pub. One elderly woman said the incident made her feel “vulnerable” as it came in the wake of a man being arrested for attempted murder in August, and a ram-raid on the Spar shop last year.
