"Throw drunk yobs into the back of a van," says council leader.

A FOUR-week "blitz" is needed to squash anti-social behaviour in Spalding, according to the leader of South Holland District Council.

Urinating in public, drunken abuse and littering will be targeted with fixed penalty notices or even a spell in the back of a security van if Coun Gary Porter has his way.

He wants to mimic South Kesteven and Boston's councils by allocating council officers to work alongside police on the streets.

The debate at the latest meeting of Spalding Town Forum was sparked by a letter from a resident complaining about the behaviour of some Eastern Europeans in Spalding.
