People’s Parade gets off to a flying start

Waiting for Video...

The first ever Spalding People’s Parade was a hit with the people who gathered to watch it in brilliant sunshine today.

South Holland and The Deepings MP John Hayes started off the parade from the gates of Sir John Gleed School.

Led by the Breaston Highlanders, the parade wound its way along Neville Avenue, Maple Grove, Albert Street, High Street, Churchgate, Love Lane, Halmer Gate and Halmer Gardens.

There was an action packed day at the Gleed school with entertainment from Holbeach Town Band, Alfie White and The Sound Injectors – and plenty of fun for children who were enjoying a bouncy castle and karting.

The MP and onlookers were delighted by the parade – and say they hope it will go on to be a bigger event in the town’s calendar.

Mr Hayes said: “I would just like to thank everyone who contributed today – the organising team and the people who have participated.

“I know how much work they have put into it and it’s not been easy because this is the transition year.”
