Father’s Day promises to be a memorable one in Holbeach this year with a new food festival to run alongside the annual town and country fayre.
June 14 and 15 should be red letter days when hundreds, if not thousands of families head to William Stukeley Primary School, Stukeley Gardens and Kings Field, Fen Road, Holbeach, for a weekend of food, fun and fascination.
Holbeach Food Festival is on June 14 from 10am until 4pm, with live music from jazz and youth bands, pizza making demonstrations by Bakkvor Pizza of Holbeach St Marks, food and drink stalls, charity stands and arts from Transported.
A leaflet produced for the event said: “Holbeach and the surrounding district of South Holland has a long history of producing food.
“We are surrounded by the best farming land in the country which allows a massive variety of food to be grown.
“Our first-ever food festival aims to give people a taste of all the food grown here, with a quite deliberate link to the ever-popular Holbeach Town and Country Fayre.”
Fayre organisers will be running a shuttle bus between the events and the fayre itself includes an RAF flypast, classic cars and vintage vehicles on display, a medieval re-enactment and both cabbage and onion hurling contests.
