Mobile phone tracking for school trips

A mobile phone tracking system is revolutionising school trips and student gap year travels as parents can follow their children every step of the way.
Ubitrac has a nerve centre in Kirton’s London Road with half-a-dozen staff, but that’s likely to be boosted to 40 as its business goes global.
Its chief executive officer, Tony Foote, from Weston, said the tracking system chiefly offers peace of mind with features like a 24/7 emergency response centre that allows the student to communicate with a controller at the touch of a button.
It can also warn students of hazards ahead on the roads – like crashes – and also let parents know their children are safe if there has been an incident on the route of their trip.
Students can instantly share trip photos with any followers they choose, like family members, and have message exchanges with them.
Roehampton University is putting all of its foreign students on a Ubitrac phone tracking system and Kirton Middlecott School acting head Sue Illingworth says her school has one tracked phone already and is likely to have a second.
The phones will be used on international trips, school visits across the UK and even away sports fixtures.
