Mini maestros make music

CHILDREN from seven primary schools joined together for a day of musical activities.

The 29th music festival was themed weird and wonderful and held at Ayscoughfee Hall School.

The children from Spalding St John’s, Gedney Hill, Tydd St Mary’s, Long Sutton, Lutton St Nicholas and Holbeach Bank all joined together to play pieces – including Lilly the Pink and the Purple People Eater – which they had learnt previously and also played to each other.

During the afternoon a Cecelia Wickham-Anderson led a vocal workshop with the whole group which included singing a number of pieces in Zulu.

Festival organiser Kim Biggs said it was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by all the pupils.

She added: “The aim of the festival is draw in a number of skills from the national curriculum – such as performing and listening. The children were given the chance to perform for other pupils and really enjoyed the day.”

She thanked the festival sponsors Holbeach Ladies Circle, Organic Recycling, Baytree Nurseries Garden Centre, Lincolnshire Field Products and D P Packaging for their support.
