Masked raiders take cash at knifepoint

MASKED raiders armed with a knife and crowbar escaped with more than £800 in stolen cash after a New Year's Eve raid on a Langtoft village shop - in broad daylight.

Two young men in black balaclavas waited for the shop to be empty of customers mid afternoon on Thursday then walked in and tried to jemmy open the till before forcing a female member of staff, who doesn't wish to be named, to open it for them.

After clearing all the paper money from the till they reached down packs of cigarettes from behind the counter and made off.

But the pair's faces were seen and recorded by CCTV cameras in the street before they pulled hats down as masks and made their move.

And the entire raid, including a clear view of the 12in knife held by one raider, was filmed as clearly as a Hollywood movie - stills from which were posted on Facebook the same night - and appear on this page.

Now Langtoft Shop and Post Office owners Jo Thompson and Mark Curley are hoping their appeal for witnesses, posted by 20-year-old son Chris Curley on a newly-created Facebook group, will jog the memory of someone who noticed the raiders' getaway car, which must have been parked in the village for about an hour.
