Man remanded in custody on burglary charge

UPDATE THURSDAY 1.15PM: A man living in Spalding and facing a burglary charge has been remanded in custody after appearing at a south Lincolnshire magistrates court.

Mariusz Piciura (23) appeared at Grantham Magistrates Court yesterday on a charge of burgling a house in Spalding on an as yet unconfirmed date.

He is due to return to the same court on Wednesday February 27 for the case to be committed to Lincoln Crown Court.

Piciura was arrested by police after a public appeal for help in tracing him.

WEDNESDAY 12:45pm: A 23-year-old Spalding man has been arrested and charged with burglary after he was spotted by “eagle-eyed” police.

Mariusz Piciura is due to appear at Grantham Magistrates Court today in connection with a burglary at a home in Spalding after his photograph was released by police three weeks ago in a bid to trace him.

Inspector Jim Tyner, community policing inspector for Spalding, said: “Mr Piciura was recognised by an eagle-eyed officer who had seen his photograph.

“Although on this occasion the arrest was not as a result of a call from the public, the publicity we receive from local media can be invaluable to us in helping to locate wanted people.”
