Losing lbs to earn charity pounds

THREE members of staff at a Spalding opticians have raised more than £350 for charity by dropping pounds in a sponsored slimathon.

Specsavers store directors Neil and Ian Stradling and optical assistant Alison Morrell have lost four-and-a-half stone between them since the start of the year by following individual diet plans devised for them by nurse Jane Fang, as well as taking regular exercise at Pro Bodies Health and Fitness.

At the start of the challenge Neil weighed 20 stone 12lbs and has gone on to lose two stone 3lbs while Ian has lost one stone 2lbs from his starting weight of 15 stone 7lbs.

Alison who weighed 16 stones 2lbs has lost a stone.

The slimmers have raised 358 to help Spalding’s St Barnabas Hospice extend its vital Hospice at Home service from five to seven days a week.

Neil said: ‘It’s not all been plain sailing.

“We’ve had some blips along the way but we’re really pleased that we’ve all managed to lose a decent amount of weight.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported us and would encourage anyone who did to come into the store with their sponsorship money as soon as possible.”
