Leave it to us, say animal rescuers
Animal owners in South Holland are being warned to leave any rescue acts to the experts in the event of emergencies.
The advice comes from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue which has dedicated animal rescue teams at five stations in the county, including Spalding.
There have been 15 incidents across South Holland in the last two years where specially trained teams have had to rescue animals, including sheep and horses.
In Algarkirk recently, a fire crew rescued a border collie called Tess from a reservoir.
Chris Lowe from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said: “By its very nature, mounting any rescue operation is dangerous and requires specialist skills.
“Anyone entering that situation unprepared and inexperienced will only make things situation worse and more difficult for us to deal with, so they should leave it to the experts.”
